Espresso is a beverage brewed by forcing a
small amount of nearly boiling water under pressure through the
coffee beans. It is the base for other drinks, such as a latte, cappuccino, mocha, or americano.
Espresso has more caffeine per one cup than
most beverages, but the usual serving size is smaller—a typical 60 mL of
espresso has 80 to 150 mg of caffeine, little less than the standard 240 mL cup of drip coffee.
The surface of espresso is called crema. It
is important not to break the crema when you pour it to the cup. Good espresso
has beautiful crema.
When we drink espresso we have to choose
size. Mostly there is two size, single and double. There is usually only two
sizes, because the for it has a amount for 60ml. Also when we use espresso for
other beverages, we call it a “shot”.
Angelo Moriondo invented the first espresso machine in the world. That is why he is one of the most important 19th Century contributors to the development.
